THE SITUATION

Saint-Gobain, the worldwide leader for Habitat, provides its expertise in the areas of innovation and co-development through a wide range of high-performance materials for demanding applications in diverse segments, such as the automotive, aeronautical, health, defense, security, and even the food & beverage industries.
Saint-Gobain provides solutions that make buildings more efficient in terms of their energy consumption, and which help contribute to saving the planet. Most of its solutions (especially those using glass, mineral wool insulation, plasterboards, and facade and floor covering mortars) are already helping and will help even more in the future to improve the energy efficiency of buildings.
They offer a range of high performance energy-saving products and solutions to help create a more sustainable built environment.

THE EXPECTATION

Dave Kent Operations Director of Saint-Gobain contacted Micheal to do a site visit to have a look at putting in some renewable technology in their new training academy.  Micheal completed an energy assessment of the site taking into account the following:

  • Reduce energy load
  • Reduce carbon foot print
  • Substantial financial saving

 

THE SOLUTION

Micheal decided that he would install a solar thermal system for all their hot water requirement s.  The dimensions of this building required 20 m² of solar CPC Panels along with a 500 litre hot water cylinder.
The team also installed a Rain Water Harvesting system which helps towards the flushing of the toilets and urinals.

 

RESULTS & BENEFITS

Solar Thermal can satisfy a large part of your heating needs, reducing your energy bills and C02 emissions.   This system we installed can supply more than 50% of our clients annual hot water needs delivering financial and environmental benefits.
This has given our clients lots of hot water and reduced their water bill for the academy.
