THE SITUATION

Located at the junction of the Dublin and Ballinagh Roads; Topline Tractamotors is a well known local landmark at the heart of Cavan Town.  This busy hardware and tyre store is open six days a week with ample customer parking.  Topline Tractamotors celebrated its 50th Anniversary in 2011.  The store is family owned and is currently in the second generation of family management.

THE EXPECTATION

Micheal was asked to carry out an energy assessment of the hardware store to establish how we could help them to

  • Save on their energy bills
  • Save on the running costs of this facility
  • Have all the running hot water they require every day

THE SOLUTION

After a detailed assessment was conducted Micheal proposed a Heating Support System be installed.
This would consist of eight solar collectors roof mounted with a 200 litre cylinder and a 1250 litre buffer tank and a new 73 kw condensing oil boiler.

RESULTS & BENEFITS

With the heat support system and new condensing oil boiler heating into the buffer tank our clients have reduced their oil bills by approximately €1200.00 per annum.

THE PROJECT
Average Annual Savings:
Approximately 60/70% savings on hot water
System Size of Solar:
20 square metres of solar thermal

“We were delighted to be able to achieve a 30% Grant through SEAI for our clients at Tractamotors. From this system has been installed Tractamotors have been reaping the benefits from the sun for the last ten years and enjoying a reduction in their energy bills.”
